The new building consolidates four existing trade and art buildings
into a single structure. The resulting interior sky-lit street
is animated by the varied textures and colors of the original
exterior brick walls, new polished concrete masonry and tile facings.
The free-form arrangement of light fixtures and the street’s
irregular form further emphasize the space as a place for informal
encounters. In character with its studio and industrial uses,
much of the interior, including the corridors, studios, and shops,
have exposed structure and building systems, as well as exposed
masonry walls.
